Adding corals

Hiya,
Can you add as many corals to a tank as you want as one time, or is it like fish and you need to add them slowly so as not to overload the bioload?

But it does take more food to feed more corals, and there is a chance that some of the extra food might go uneaten and start breaking down.

Thats true but a lot of people don't feed there corals, they just let them get left over food thats floating. Thats what I do and all my lps and sps are all thriving.

it'll put a dent in your ca level too...depends on the coral when it comes to feeding. I've never had a coral I felt need to be feed. Doesn't mean it doesn't get food, I just don't feed IT. Adding a lot of corals to your tank may take out the natural food you tank might produce, this might lead to other problems.

I usually wait about a month between addition of corals just to see how they do. If you should lose it, it's better (and cheaper) to lose only one.
As previously stated, corals alone don't increase your bioload. :D

Hiya,
About feeding them. I only have one peppermint shrimp, turbos and nass. snails in the tank. No fish...husband would prefer I not put any in there. So, I'm not feeding the tank, except for adding calcium.
So, when I start adding corals should I start feeding the tank? If so, with what? I do have 30 lbs of LR in there and have never felt the need to feed the tank.
Also, I haven't hooked up my skimmer yet, no fish, so I figured I didn't need it until then. When should I do so? I don't have any scum on the surface.

If you want to feed them, I'd give them BioPlankton. Your LFS will probably have it. Give it to them once or twice a week. As long as you have good waterflow throughout the tank and no scum on the surface, you don't have to hook the skimmer up if you don't want to. :D
