Adding CUC?

What is the maximum number of the cuc you can add at one time. Like for fish you only want to add 1 or 2 at a time. Is there a rule for the CUC?

There is no rule for a cuc but I did 5 hermits and 5 snails. Then a week later a pepermint shrimp and a skunk cleaner. Just make sure you have shells for the hermits or they will kill your snails. But dont add anything intill your tank cycles first. Also Get an emrild crab. Just got one the other day he is the collest thing in the tank. Eat hair alge like crazy.

I actually took my hermits out. They were killing all the snails and I had plenty of larger shells for them to move into if they wanted. Apparently no matter what you do you can't feed those guys enough. I'd stay away from crabs and only use an emerald only if you have an algae outbreak.

This has been my experience as well. I would not use hermits. though I do have 1 large strawberry hermit that is a blast to watch. My next tank may be a invert only tank, at times I find I watch them more than my fish.

For a 12gal. I say 8-10 is a good starting point if you dont go with the hermets. Cuz yes they will eat snails. But I think they are much cooler to watch than a bunch of snails. And besides snails are cheap. You got to look at it from the hermits point of view. Witch would you rather have. A bigger house for free or a bigger house thats comes with a meal for free.

you can add the clean up crew at once if you have the money to buy them all at once. unlike fish the CUC is so small it wont stock the bio load.
