am cycling the new 180 and am adding up the fish list. is there a certain order to put them in? i know the tangs all go in together and such, but should i put in the small fish first then the larger ones ? or does it really matter?

Normally the order should be from least aggressive to most aggressive.
+1
The reason for this is because aggressive also means territorial. If you introduce a territorial fish into an otherwise uninhabited 180 gallon aquarium, he claims the full aquarium as his territory. Subsequently, any fish henceforth added will be encroaching upon his territory and therefore subject to his right to the second amendment.

What is your stock list? We will help you with what should go in when.
1 scott's fairy wrasse
1 velvet fairy wrasse
1 12 line wrasse
1 pinecone fish
1 yellow belly blue tang
1 naso tang
1 unicorn tang
3-4 anthias
3-4 cardinals
1 longnosed hawkfish
2 black n white clowns (mated pair)
these will be going into a 180 tall (60 x 24w x 30t) with about 150lbs lr and 60 lbs dsb. would also like to add a blenny or two and maybe a goby

You should also start with the hardier fish since your tank still isnt mature enough for more sensitive fish. I would start out with either the athias, cardinals, blenny, goby or clowns. They are all nice hardy to fish to start with and arent very aggressive. I would wait 6-8 months for your tank to mature before you get those tangs.

Yep! Just make sure that all of your parameters are in check and that you have the correct amount of light and flow.

thanks! will do that. am running a mag 18 on the return line from sump/fuge and will be putting in 2 korila 4's and adding 2 more if necessary.
does anyone know if there is a way to see the water movement in your tank to see if you have any dead zones? like food coloring or something that can be skimmed out or removed?
