My LFS has stated that this should be done because the KH of RO/DI water is 0.
Is this what I should be doing everytime I top off. My current KH is 7. Ph 8.2
Thanks

Well simple answer is no, you should not add any buffers to the topoff water. If your alkalinity is 7dkh, what is your calcium?? If anything add a buffer to the tank to adjust the alkalinity.
With limewater, or kalk water. You mix the fresh water with kalk mix which forms a solution that is balanced with both alkalinity and calcium. The solution has a PH of 12+- so it needs to be slow dripping into the tank.
