Question to group, I have a opportunity to buy 100lbs of tonga shelf live rock from a person who is tearing down their tank. The rock is fully cured it has been in tank for many years. Question is would it be adviseable to add all 100lbs at once, half to display and half to fuge. My tank has been up for 3 years and currently has 200lbs in display and 30 in fuge.
Thanks for opinions.

if there are any fish or any living things in your tank adding new lr may kill them because even 100lbs to a 300lb previous will possibly start another cycle which will be the ammonia, ite, ate and so on.

The rock has been in a tank for 3 yrs, so it should be fully cured. I will be picking it up and packing in water, and it is only a 2.5 hr drive back to my house/tank.

I would suggest a large rubbermaid tub, as a temp holding area. Then adding a few pounds a week or so checking the water paramiters as you go. With fully cured you should be able to add more than say if you were to get a hold of some that was mail ordered or uncured.
