adding live rock

After adding live rock to my tank there appears to be a small starfish On the glass. Also when i add the rock a worm came off one of the rocks. Is this common? should I leave the star fish in?

I had an scary looking 8 inch bristleworm come out of LR that I was cycling. Posted a picture on SWF and eveyone said it was a benefical worm (eats detritus) so I added him to my DT. That was about 10 months ago. I only see him ocassionally, but he doesn't hurt anything and he's interesting to look at. I also had a tiny green crab comeout of new LR. I'm sure all kinds of critters come in on rock.

without a pic, you can't be sure just by saying that it is a starfish...there are several different types of starfish that hitch on LR (search for asterina star fish...they are VERY common hitch hikers). Same thing with the worm...could be a bristleworm, which help to get rid of leftovers in the tank, or it could be something that could be potentially dangerous to your tank...
either get a picture or give a better description (in the meantime, look up asterina stars and bristleworms...to avoid having to take pictures, as the worm will most likely only come out at feeding time/when the lights go out).

they reproduce quickly, however they are reef safe and don't really harm much...my tank has been up for almost 3 years and they are still there, though not a problem....I would just leave them.
