Adding Live Sand on Top of Live Sand

I currently have about a 3" live sand bed in my 125 gal long tank. the tank has been running for about 4 1/2 months with 80#lr also. I want to add some additional live sand to make it about 4"-5" bed. there has been a lot of brown alge currently on the sand bed and it appears that some green hair alge has also started growing. is it ok to just cover this alge up with new live sand? if not then what do i need to do to get rid of the alge problem. (i just added a black ember blenny to help alleviate this)

I say definatly get a clean up crew. Hermits will eat that stuff right up. Nut get other Janitors also. then after that, top it off with live sand. A 4-5 inch bedding will help a lot with nitrates any way.

you didn't say if you had a clean up crew or not.
If so, I would concintrate on the algae problem first. adding the blenny may not be that good of an idea. with your tank being so young, it may starve.
really need more details.test results, clean up crew, filters, lighting, etc.
I don't want to worry you about the blenny.
I could be wrong, ;)
Give more details and I'm sure the sharks here can help you out.

i do have a clean up crew of about 40 or so scarlet hermits, a few shrimp, a few astrea snails and a few mexican turbos.
