Adding Live Sand

Anyone got any pointers on how to add sand to an established tank without throwing everything out of whack?

I don't think I'd add live sand but not live sand I've had luck with washing thoroughly then pouring through a pvc pipe to the bottom. Prevents sand storm

How much sand to what size tank?

Do you currently have a sand bed?

Real live sand or bagged wet sand?

Live, or dry, should be added in increments and gently stirred into the existing sand bed. You don't want to cover the existing sand because you could smother the bacteria that already exists in it. This can cause a mini cycle, where as with mixing sand in patches over a period of time won't throw the system out of whack to any discernible degree...
