Just to get things straight. This came from a site just on curing live rock.
While you may cure your live rock in many different ways, the following method has been shown to be very effective. Curing typically takes from one to three weeks.
One to three weeks sounds more than a couple of days.

No I'm not adding more LR. I'm at my limit I think. Its only a 29 gallon starter tank. The rock I'm adding is uncured. Should I get a piece of cured rock to add from LFS? Or just run with the uncured rock?

Oh one more thing. When you clean the rock before putting it in, is there anything special to clean it with?

Curing only takes a few days . Cycling takes weeks and can be tied to curing If you add too much live rock that HAS NOT been cured it WILL trigger a cycle again. :happyfish . As long as you have no live stock add the rock and keep checking the nitrates and trites and that whole cycle.

i have a question. i alraeady cylced mt tank but i dont have much lr cause i didnt buy it all at once cuz it is expensive. i am getting some free lr from a friend whose tank has been set up for a number of years would it be ok to just add to the tank with livestock in it? or would it cause a spike and kill all of my fish?

if its coming from an establish tank... is transported in water quickly you shouldnt have any die off that would cause an amonia spike...

Being the LR in uncured, you don't even really need to add a raw uncooked shrimp. I cycled and cured my LR in my DT without adding the shrimp. Took me about 6 weeks to cycle my 46 gallon. Good luck.
