i have a cycled 29 gallon tank with about 15 pounds of live rock but at the time didnt realize that u need to add all live rock before u start your cycle i want to put about 35 pounds of live rock in if i add 1-5 pounds at a time, will the die off cause ammonia spikes or will i be ok, about 2 weeks ago i added a 5 pound rock and nothing happened??? ive gotten all my rock out of another tank none of it was uncured? i just wanna know if i can fix my mistake a little at a time without killing everything in my tank.

If you're saying none of the LR was uncured it means it was cured. You shouldn't get a substantial ammonia spike if any at all. Just add a little at a time and test the water as you go.

what posts would these be id like to check them out

the one were the guy is transplanting a 210 gallon tank to his house.
one of the solutions was to take a majority of the rock and cycle it with the new setup. but also a portion of the old rock that has life attached to it was to be put in holding tanks for the fish....and then added at a later date when the fish were re-introduced.

cjcdaddy3 is your tank cycled. For the rest of you it is always a good idea to put the rock in a tub with a power head and a heater and check the water paramiters. If after a week or 2 you see no spikes then I say it would be ok to add in. But if you have fish in the tank it is not worth the risk of killing everything to add a few pounds of rock.

If you are taking the live rock out of his tank and moving it to your tank and keep it substantially "wet" during the move then you should have no problems. This would be considered cured rock which won't go through a pike. If the rock is dry for a long period ( could be a few hours ) This will cause alot of "die off" of beneficial bacteria and other organisms that could cause a spike.

Also if you are taking the aninome be sure you have lights and also keep as much water as you can so you have established water in your tank to help keep it healthy
