Adding More live Sand

I would like to add more live sand to my tank (25 gallons) but because I have live creatures in the tank I am not sure if this is safe to do. I would like to add about 10 lbs of live sand because I had an issue with cyanobacteria and I removed the top layer or so of live sand. Now that it has been resolved (added a sump and a new protein skimmer) for a while I would love to replace the missing sand. Please let me know if it is safe for me to add sand while I have live critters in the tank. Thanks!

Turn the tank off, all powerheads, everything.
Attch a tube to a large bored funnel. Now you can put the tube end into the tank near the bottom, slowly pour the sand into the funnel. you can distribute it as you want. it will create some fine sand throughout9 depending on how much you clean it first (dead sand). put the tank back on in a little while. everybody will be happy

Can I do the same process with live sand? I would never add live rock directly into my aquarium, is it the same issue with live sand?
