Adding New Clown - Can It Be Different?

I had two Percs, until one died unexpectedly a few weeks ago. The other fish in the tank are doing just fine. I would like to add another clown, but did not know how successful I would be, since I added both Percs about 2-1/2 years ago.
Also, could I add another type of clown, besides another Perc, or would they fight?

I wouldn't know about getting a different species, not a Maroon, I know that... I had the same thing happen though, had one a long time.. ended up adding a new one- they "hit it off" right away and became good buds. Never a problem with the two despite the age difference..

Stay with a percula, it's the safest route. If the smaller of the two died, you can get any size perc. If the larger died, you need to get a small one to have the best chance at pairing.

Will a single Clown be OK in a tank, or does it need a mate, to make a pair?

A single will be just fine.

I got a nice size maroon in with 2 percs & they do fine in my 150
