adding sand

I already have 1/2'' of sand and I need to add a little more to cover the bottom good. If I get live sand can I just put it on top of the sand already
in the tank?

100GAL
100LB LR
40LB sand
been up for 4 Mo

yea i think you can what i know of it shouldnt cause any problems

If the sand you have is already live just get dry sand. Rinse it, strain it, wet it down again, then use a piece of pvc and funnel to slide it down to the bottom of the tank. Just don't add too much new sand at once, as you don't want to smother you're current sands inhabitants.

yea dont waste your money on LS. Most of the time is has a lot of die off anyways from sitting in the store for so long and might spike the tank and start a new cycle. Just get the regular sand and put it in the tank about a cup every couple days- week.
