Fill the tank halfway up with water, Will you have fish that dig in the sand? If so Place the rocks on the bottom of the tank and then put the sand in, then fill it up the rest of the way

+1. you could go a step further and put eggcrate down before the rocks to protect the glass, dissipate pressure points, and give the rock something to 'grab' onto.

also, when pouring the water in, you should aim it at a large rock, or put something on the sand like a plate such that you dont stir up a whole bunch of sand when adding the water. You will thank yourself later.

I have a quick question, don't mean to hijack your thread or anything, but I went to Home Depot and asked for eggcrate awhile back and they had no idea what I was talking about. What is the commercial term for it?

its the stuff that goes between the lighting in the ceiling the room below. it comes in little squares usualy about 1"x1" squares in a sheet thats probably 4' long and 24" wide or so. you see it in schools, doctors offices, places where thyey have flourecent lighting but you dont want to see the lights themselves. but its not solid like an obscured plastic cover. Id go to thier flourecent section and just look for it yourself
