Adding water to the tank

My tank water has evaporated a little, about 1/2" so do i just add pure water without the salt or do i add saltwater to it again because i dont want higher salinity in my tank since its already about 1.024

U only need to add water...the best would be r/o water..not water directly from the tap...the salt will always be there but the salinity will go up due to water loss...some add it slowly others just dump it..I try to make the temperature the same as the tank water..and just dump it..but i check the water for ammonia and the like before I dump it into the tank...the fish seem to enjoy it and swim all in it........crazy fish!!! :p

I'm glad I found this forum. I'd like to ask... do you need to add a buffer to the water you're adding? I was adding water last night and didn't really know how to go about it.

I buy my r/o water from a lfs....but i keep it in a 5 gal bucket and add Aquasafe to it and Prime chlorine remover to it..I know I don't need to but I do anyway..plus i add air and heat it to the tank temperature before i add it ...everything seems to work for me...might be a little excessive but it works and the fish get good clean water.... :p
