I don't really know about those additives, but with the calcium I would think you need to test to find out what you Ca is actually at. I find it helpful to test for anything I am adding to my tank.

Like benj said I don't add anything I don't test for and I avoid any of the "snake oil" type additives. The only supplements I add are Cal/Alk and every now and then Mg which I test for all of them. I also do regular water changes.

I want to thank you for your help. I'm new at this coral stuff..I had a Live rock with fish tank set-up since NOV. The tanks doing well so I want to get into the coral end so I'm going to be asking some DUMB question's I'm sorry for that, but I need to ask questions and I only trust people from this message board. I will go to the LFS have the water checked in the a.m. and pick up some RO water.

If you go and get your water checked see what tests they have available and get some Salifert Ca, Alk, and Mg tests if you can. Then you can test your own water...plus they are very accurate.
When you start measuring your Ca and Alk levels you will want them balanced...do a seach here for Kip's Ca/Alk balancing table and you will find the numbers to shoot for.
Also, B-ionic (made be ESV) is a Very good supplement to keep Ca and Alk balanced. It is pretty easy to use. You just test and find out what you Ca and Alk levels are at, compare that to Kips table, and then you know what to shoot for and can figure out how much of the additives to add. Plus the bottles come with nice measureing cups (not the irritating # of drops...well, irritating to me).
