From my experiences GOOD LUCK tryin to do this, glass is o.k with glass using silicone,, however silicone no matter what kind( ive tried them all i beleive)will not stick to acrylic or plexi, evan if you let the dry for weeks. I have heard that if you scuff the plexi up it might stick( with sandpaper or soemthing) but i doubt this will work too.. Acrylic to Acrylic or pleaxi is easy using Weld-On 16 or 4,, if you need more info on this just let me know

Aquarium Silicone works just fine. I have used it to make both a sump and a fuge, both were glass tanks and the baffles and compartments were acrlyic. No complaints here at all.

Yak - it is just as cheap if not cheaper to get 1/8" glass cut for the 20g and the silicone will stick to it well.

Don't be afraid to drill glass...as long as its not tempered you will be just fine, just go slow and use water on the bit.

i glue acrylic to glass w/ just plain old 100% silicone from hd.. it works for me.. somethings it may seem a lil weak so i just give it a bigger bead..

Glueing acrylic to glass no matter how big of a bead of silicone you use is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. To properly bond acrylic to acrylic the materials are welded to form a seal or joint. Silicone doesn't do that.... so the theory of silcone holding acrylic for any longevity is out of the picture

Nobody said it couldn't be done, just not very reliable for holding alot of pressure. Do a search on acrylic from some good sites or talk to guys who work acrylic for a living and they will tell you the same thing!!!!

I believe that the original post of this topic was the guy was making a sump/fuge and was wondering what he could use......I said the silicone to acrylic and glass would be fine for that situation. Last time I checked there ain't alot of pressure in a sump/fuge. Now if you were going to make something where there was pressure running through it, I would have to agree, that there are better products.

Glass to acrylic.......... Silicone will make a weak bond to acrylic, so it can be used for things like baffles . But in the case of where there is substantial pressure on the joint and a leak would be a problem, then it is not suitable. A glue that does a good job at bonding is Bostik Titan Bond...from another site.
