First make sure all your salt is dissolved. More than likely you will think its all dissolved and over the next day or so it will rise a bit, but it's not really a big deal. Add your sand, then your rocks. I'm assuming your adding cured lr bacause your talking about adding a shrimp. Make sure you add a uncooked raw shrimp. Then sit back and let your cycle begin.

I think they are saying, once they get the specific gravity somewhere within those limits, what's the next step.
Is the sand your going to add live or just plain ol' sand?

Well, if you were using live sand then for your next step, I would recomend the temperature, if it's just plain ol' sand then that'd be the next thing to add and temp won't matter... It prolly wouldn't matter either way, but I would get the temp right before adding LS.

while your tank is sitting overnight you should add your heater to start heating your water. Add your sand and rock whenever you like. But before adding your rock make sure your salinity is in the correct range. There is really no diff between uncured or cured lr as it pertains to adding it to a new set up.
