hi my 125G tank is now set up and i want to get a spot finned lion, 1 or 2 porcupine puffers, maybe a tang or 2 and a panther grouper. Now i've checked on *********** at the compatibility chart and talked with my LFS and they all said that'd work.. any advice? i am not going to put them all in at the same time of course. but i would also want to know which one would be the first for a new aquarist and how long between put ins etc...
should i get them all as babies so they can grow together or does that not make a difference...

You'd probably get more input in the aggressive forum on these types of fish.
In the long run some of those fish would need to go to a new home. The puffers, possibly the grouper, and depending on the type of tang, will need a bigger tank.
I have 2 porcs in my 240, and I know that eventually 1 of them will need to go, or I may have to by a bigger tank to keep them both.
The other possible problem with the stocking list is that puffers are known to sometime nip at lionfish fins. This may or may not be a problem, just something to keep an eye out for.
Also tangs need really good water quality, and this can be difficult to maintain in an aggressive tank.
There are some other options that would work well in a 125. I like the miniatus grouper better than the panther. A lot more color, and they stay considerable smaller.

thanx for your imput.. is there anything i can do to get the puffer and lion to get along? those are basically the ones i want the most

Theres really nothing that you can do. You can try adding them, but you will have to keep an eye on them. Some people have been lucky, and have been able to combine them without problems, others have not. It's just hit or miss.

With a Tank divider the Puffer won't be able to get to the Lion. Just a thought. Clear eggcrate???? :thinking:
Perhaps a rock wall down the middle.

Yea, try a divider of some sort, That oughta work. I thought about it one time with my tank, but I noticed that I would just be inducing claustrophobia, lol. Think a little bit on that one. Puffers are great, but they are a bit, umm, "chomp happy". LOL, give it a try, and hang in there.

thanx for all the imput i might just have to rethink my fish ideas. I want the lion and my girlfriend really likes the puffer so you can feel my pain... lol
