Fair statements all around.
If it weren't Afghanistan, it would've been somewhere else, and an equally difficult sitution.
Re: the News, I also try to view sources from outside America, like BBC, the Guardian, Deutsche Welle, etc. While decidedly liberal in their take, it does provide an alternative veiwpoint, both to what is the news, and how it's spun.

I wont watch BBC on principle but Reuters offers a somewhat international perspective, I do read the guardian some as well but mostly stick to the domestic sources, I am not that integrated
