Againnnnnnn

Well i had a dogface puffer with ick a few weeks back and put him in qt. Everything went well the ick seemed to fall right off with the meds. I left him in qt for a couple weeks and then a couple days ago i let him back in the Dt. Everything seemed to be going great the last two days no signs of ick. Today however it seems he has it again. Im so confused on what is going on.
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 20
Ph 8.4
the salinity of the tank is also perfect. Im really getting frustrated and have no clue what is going on. I wonder if it could have anything to do with the water being hot. The last couple weeks the water has been at about 83 84 degrees, but i think ick cant survive in warm water it is a coldwater parasite so i doubt thats the reason. Thank you for any replys.

Yes 1 snowflake eel. He seems fine he was in qt with the puffer as a procautionary thing, and i also released him 2 days ago. Puffer is eating well and only has minnute amount of ick on fins nothing on skin yet.

The tank was just clear for for 7 weeks until i added the dogface and eel and the puffer got ick right away.
. Does this mean i have to put them in qt again for 6 weeks, theres no treating the puffer and leaving the eel? if not i have another problem i already have a inch porky puffer in the qt, i dont know if a eel, dogface, and porky can live for 6 weeks in a 10 gallon qt. Can i leave the eel in the Dt if i buy a UV.

not sure but i believe eels don't get or carry ich and if that's the case it's fine in the DT..uv is not gonna help either...even though people swear by it

I have a several questions about filteration.I have 2 xp3s and a emperor 400 running on a 55 gal. I was thinking of running the filstar foam on the bottom of both xp3s,then on one of the xp3s bio stars and fluval bio max rings, and the other one bio stars and Chemi pure. the top level i'm not sure what would be good any suggestion? i heard purigen is good? On the emperor i was thinking of just running Kent nitrate sponge and just leaving the bio wheels? Ive heard carbon is not really good in saltwater tanks is that true? has anyone had any experience with kent nitrate sponge? how bout Kent phosphate sponge? What is phosphate and is it a big concern in an agressive fowlr. Thanks for any help, I realize now i should have got a wet dry but its to late now and i want to hook up my filters the most effecient way possible.

Im sorry i accidently posted that last one on the wrong board. Anyway i took the dogface out and will start treating him. Wow what a hobby huh, pain in the @** but it makes it that much sweeter when you get it right.

I agree, but unless you remove every fish from the display and leave it fishless for 6 weeks then you will have this problem again. If you add more rock or coral durring the time that the tank is without fish then you have to wait 3 weeks from the time that the last piece is added.
