Do you mean the cycle?? It depends IMO. Back then I waited til my ammonia and nitrite got to 0 and nitrate down to less than 20ppm. pH should be around 8.2 and sg is about 1.022-24 IMO. A lot of people here kicked start their cycle by putting a cocktail shrimp into their tank and test their water and see if their tank is ready. Getting some LR and LS always help.

Ohhhhhh, okay. I usually wait for 2-3 days after I mixed them. Sometimes I make quite alot and cannot use it all, so some may last up to 2 weeks or so, but I don't think this is a good move. Keep bumping this post up, maybe some other people would have something to say about this. HTH

I let mine circulate for 2 to 3 days and I only make up what I will use. In an emergency, I can buy pre made from the lfs.

I make mine up then let it aireate for 24-48 hours - then I mix in the salt mix ....
the one time I just put it in the tank and mixed salt in the tank was not a good experience!!
