Aggressive eel

I am looking for an eel that can be housed with my current fish but in a larger tank. I have
emp angel 6"
porc puffer 7"
blue tang 8"
powder blue tang 6"
marine beta 8"
zebra eel 4 feet long
So far I like the look of the fimbriated, anyone actually owned one of these?? Most places have it listed as aggressive but can be kept with large fish. I want an eel with some teeth. What are some other suggestions for eels with some serious fangs that would go well with the fish I have in a larger 300+ gallon tank?
And I don't want a snowflake eel.

Unfortunately, so such eel exists. Large teeth mean fish eaters and/or aggressive species.
Fimbriated Morays will eat anything and everything, in a tank...even fish that are big enough you'd never think they could be eaten...and, it'll also eat other Eels. I know someone that had a 24" Fimbriated eat a 7" Volitan Lion.

I agree... that puffer may grow another 5 inches and then you have a 12" puffer in a 125.
Go get him whitey.
lmao

Listen to this guy! I almost made a mistake about getting this eel untill I hear about a eel eating a lion. And if Whitey is correct I would say no more fishies.

Thanks for the info so far. Any suitable suggestions will be appreciated.
AW2, how well do dragon eels do with fish?
JR: I moved my black ribbon eel to my reef tank and added a few dozen shrimp. He is doing much better in there.
Back to eels. Keep it on track please. I don't want to get in to any discussions about porc puffers and them needing 300 gallon tanks to live. My tank is healthy and thriving and not overstocked. Kind of a mute point though since I'm getting a bigger tank. That goes double for fish police. :notsure: right back at you.
I apologize if I'm sounding rude. I just don't like when people put in their 2 cents with zero knowledge about my tank and experience. Esp. when they don't contribute to the topic.

They're just as aggressive as any other fish eater.
I've never kept mine with anything small enough to be eaten, but she has taken bites out of a 5" Queen Trigger I had. Grabbed it and tried it's best to pull it into the rocks...kept banging it against the rocks until she finally let go.

Here are some others I like. It's hard finding specific info on eels. Other than the really popular kinds. Other than wetweb media, is there another online recourse to use?
Chestnut Eel
Jewel and Golden tail eels should work right?
Hourglass Moray
Whitemouth
psusocr1: I'm not sure who your post was to, or what it was about...? If it's in reference to me adding an aggressive eel to my tank, look over my first post. I'm getting a larger tank before getting any new fish.

This board can be very frustrating sifting through all the antics to get some good info.

Chestnut is the same family as the Viper Moray species. With a name like "Viper", I dont think I need to explain any more. lol
Jeweled and Golden Tails are not primarily fish eaters. They'll eat shrimp, crabs, and other inverts...they will, however, take out smaller fish if they get the chance.
Hourglass Moray, I've never heard of. Scientific name or pics?
Whitemouth are just as aggressive as some of the worst fish eaters. My other Moray is a Whitemouth and I've seen him take out fish that I never thought there'd be a problem with. He's the only fish I've ever owned that I'm leary of, when my hands are in the tank.

Man, this is getting ugly. I'm running out of eels.
Is a kidako eel any better?
Taken from wet web media:
Muraena argus Gilbert 1898, the Hour-Glass Moray. Eastern Pacific; Mexico to Peru. To a meter in length. One off of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico's Baja tip, another in the Galapagos Islands.
None of the fish in my tank will be small (under 6") and none are slim of body. I do like the reverse goldentail. Maybe I'd be happy with one of them.

IMO the barred moray is the coolest, but i know nothing about eels unfortunatly. Im looking into them for the 250 thats sitting empty in my basement.

Those are golden dwarf eels. You're right, it's awesome, but too tiny for my taste. They only get to 18" or so. I want something bigger around than my zebra and at least 30". That dwarf eel is a great community eel from what I've read.

if it will help ill post pictures of all me eels.......? I have a monster tessa....a monster zebra...a brazilian dragon or reticulated moray... and a pretty nice sized green moray..... i dont know if i heard right but did some suggest 3 tessa in a 125........
let me know how keeping two together works out with out having a

[hr]
live rock bashing competition between the 2 of them.....my tessa gets board and pretends hes tom brady and launches 12 lbs rocks across the tanks.......i think i should invest in some rock glue

Hey Doc. I think the 3 tessa comment was meant to be a joke, or sarcasm, or whatever. Couldn't really understand them though.
Have you kept any of your eels with fish? My main concern is that they will pick off one of my tangs. Sometimes my hippo will lay right on top of my zebra eel. It's a real big hippo though, which is why I thought it might work.

The type of moray for your ideas will prove to be fatal for all your other tank inhabitants for I can give you exactly the eel that you seek, only it will kill everything for the majority of species like that should be in a species only tank, such as the fangtooth moray for one for it is a moray that preys waiting for its victims to come to it.
