Aggressive Reef? - What a combo...

I've noticed there is a reef forum, and an aggressive forum. - But who here runs an aggressive reef?
I have one, and it works well. - I have corals. - Softies mostly. - I have a couple tangs. - lion fish/blue ribbon eel/cortez string ray. All of which are found in aggressive tanks. - I also have a few damsels which no one bothers, and a few gobies.
What are your views on aggressive reefs?
Here are a few pix
Please note for the ray, I have re-arranged my rocks for more space in the sand. - He loves to lay in it as much as he loves to swim. - Today he even ate out of my hand! - Now THAT was sweet! :)

Naw, he was just out moving around. - I just added him today. :)
I had the camera ready so I could get a few shots before I shut the lights off.

Only downside is I had surgery on my right leg 13 days ago...while taking the picture I slipped on my wooden floor, fell back and busted my lens. :(

My friend freaked out at first because I was in ALOT of pain, but then he laughed at my ***. - Thank God it was one of my cheaper lens. (I'm a pro photographer) - I have some REALLY expensive ones. - I was just using my cheap wide angle. - So I really dont care.

But please do laugh. - I do now. - Sad thing is - Its happend twice now. - My wife says I'm not allowed to leave my bed.

you just got the eel? do you have PVC pipes under your sand bed? they have an abismal track record.

I have ALOT of rock work. - My I have caves all over my tank. - Hopefully that is enough. - Otherwise I'll put some PVC down for him. But in nature they hide in rocks, I would only assume that would be enough. - My tank is rather large, with alot of good hiding spaces. - Does anyone else have a tank with eels without PVC?

its mostly the ribbon eels they put the pvc pipe down for i believe. but dont take my word for it, ive never kept an eel.
i think it jsut gives them a secure feeling, somewhere they can retreat to if they feel threatened. it aslo gives them a place to hunt from.
i personally would put the pvc in, because as said above, they have poor track records.

I'll put a thin piece in tonight when I turn the lights off. - I have a coke bottle in my tank that he COULD fit in, whats your view on that? - It has xenia growing on it/star polyps :) Its just points upward. - Maybe I can just lay it down.....
Whats everyones views on that?

i think it would help if he could stretch out in it and it was buried. thats why pvc is usually buried under the sand. i would use something like 2"- 2 1/2" diameter PVC. and make sure its longer than his entire body.

I dont know if I could safely do that at this point. - I have a lion in my tank and ALOT of corals. - I'll give it a week or so, should I notice any abnormal behavior i'll tear some of the rock out and change that around.

if you can get him to eat, then you may not need the pvc. try feeding him and see what happens.
