Bought a snail from LFS, was told it was a conch. I don't think it is. It has a red foot, but the shell looks more like a tulip snail. It is eating all my turbos! Is this something that tulip snails do? Should I return it to LFS?
Thanks!
Sounds like a Horse Conch. They are predators. They'll basically eat anything they can catch. Be sure to keep your car in the garage and don't fall asleep next to your aquarium.
Very pretty animals though. They would make an excellent species tank.
oh... another warning, they get up to 2 feet long and about 30 pounds. You need a big tank.
Bang Guy,
Thanks for that info. It is a veryyyyyy predatory conch. It will stay attached to the LR for a few days and then take off after something. I guess the crabs are still too quick to get it.
Sounds like I'm going to take it back to LFS along with a damsel if I can catch it.
I looked at a lot of info and didn't see that queen conchs should be that aggressive. The shell also didn't look right.
How about cowries?

Queen Conch are not agressive at all. They can only eat algae. They do get too large for a 29 gallon tank though.
