I dont think so. The larger the sump the more water you have. More water more stable. More stable easier to maintain. On my 80 I have a 50Gsump

i was simply commenting on the lighting in my last post. i don't want you to get the wrong idea. i didn't mean you should put any coral you want in the tank right now, just that the lighting is ok for whatever you want to keep. did more than 1 person misunderstand my initial post?

the lfs guy gave you a valid opinion. if this lfs guy believes that sumps on small tanks are more trouble than they're worth, that's fine. if he was just trying to make money off you, he would have sold you a sump. i agree you should do your own research, and this counts.

I understood what you meant. I have nothing but live rock in now. its still cycling.

Hoestly, A good Filter and a HOB skimmer would be great for a tank that size.
I would agree with your LFS. A sump for soemthing that small would be troublesome.... perhaps.
Location, Plumbing, Power and so on.
That said, It also depends on what you wana accomplish. What livestock your going to have. A sump would give you some greally nice filtering options. But I really think a 'Fuge would be otherkill.

I think what the complication over the sump being not worth is just incorrect terms. Adding water volume is always worth it. The problem is some nano's have that complex rear multi-chambered filter system. So yea, add a sump to one of the those would be fairly tough.

Yeah the living room pic is crazy, but how about Aquanknights night time outside the house picture? it is a wonder the police have not been there to confiscate his plants and grow lights yet!!!

I've made it more inviting for the cops too now. I added 3 layers of those medical curtains to that big front window (the kind at like hospitals used for patient isolation). So now there's just a solid white/blue glow. Though it's a lot less now.

The light is fine.
Loose the glass tops and replace with eggcrate. Its really a light difuser that goes on the 2' x 4' commercial lights. You'll see it in lowes. It will keep your light from falling in the tank if something were to get bumped.
Move your powerhead so that it ripples the surface of the water for agitation and evaporation. Get ready to do some topping off.
As far as corals. The lights they are under in the LFS are more than likely not sufficient in the first place so any coral will need aclimation. Build a ledge with your live rock so that new corals can be placed under it and slowly be moved out into direct light over a period of weeks.
With a 26 gallon tank all you really need is about 60+ lbs of live rock and a good skimmer. A hang on back refugiun would be nice to grow macro algae(chaeto) in for nitrate/phosphate reduction but its not necessary.

you don't even need a skimmer if you watch your feeding and do regular waterchanges. personally, i'd do the regular waterchanges and scratch buying some hang on obtrusive skimmer that isn't worth the money. there aren't many, if not any, good skimmers for that size tank.

very consistant with advise he gave me about a skimmer on a 30g system....and i have a place for a skimmer in the 10g fuge. but i stuck with the regular water changes...
