Last night my nano cube was being retarded (not that unusual) so I went to try to figure out what was wrong. Since it was pumping quite right and aerating liked it should we put the battery powered aerator in there too and slept on the couch since its so loud. This morning I heard really strange noises like the pump was having a hard time working. I made my dad check it out before I went in bc I was so scared that everything would be dead. The first picture is of what we found. The pipe that brings water back into the tank pulled off from the the wall seperating the pump and the main display area and was pumping water out of the tank onto the carpet all nite. The saltwater got into the ballast and everything. We didn't know that at that point even thought the lights weren't working. When my parents came home during lunch the house was all smokey and the ballast had been smoking and sparking, the inside of my stand is burned up. Thank goodness they came home to check on my fish or we probably wouldnt have a house. My parents bought some nutrisea water since we ran out of salt trying to mix up enough water to replace what we lost. From what I can tell everything made it the clown is swimming around and the blenny is hiding in his hole and the corals seem to look fine even though some were exposed for who knows how long. We have a penguin filter aerating it now. The LFS is going to try to get us a new ballast and top from JBJ. I am so lucky to have this LFS near. I love them and the owner who helped me set up my tank is coming to the store tonite to figure things out (I think he does more maintenance than in store stuff). The last pic is of the tank now. Still trying to decide exactly what to do. Sorry for this long post, I just needed to tell someone... Thanks if you read it all!

Wow that really stinks! Had you ever removed the pump from the wall before that it slipped out? I hope everything works out for you and your fishes!

yeah i've had to because that pump has given us tons of problems, it likes to create bubbles the same place where it came apart, it doesn't feel really loose but thats the only thing I can think that did it
