my yellow tang is about 7 months in my tank now, started in a 90g and now in a 120g and not once have I ever seen him swim all the way from one side of my 4' tank to the other straight across, which tells me that he doesnt really need as much swimming room as some people say.
I'm not saying it can't help, but if he never uses up all the room available to him in my 4' tank I would think any 4' tank would be sufficient.
Just my experience, and Ive only ever had this one, all fish act differently.

the tang is very happy and fat, has tons hiding spots, grazes all day, and is the freindlyest fish ive ever seen, you can actually pet it (i think he thinks hes getting fed every time my hand goes in the tank). what ever side the tank your sitting on he likes to come right out to you and hang out. i got him he was about 2" now hes about 4" if he gets to big or un happy ill find him a bigger home

i picked up 1 peppermint to see if he lives or is lunch (there 14 bucks each around here) i added him yesterday and i didnt see him untill this morning. he is hiding up at the top of the tank behind the filter outlet but at least he still has all his anteni and legs. hopefully he ajusts
the dotty back checked him out already and showed no aggression so far

never mind i just saw the dottyback attack the shrimp and chase it across the tank... i think hes on his last straw now... any one want a dotty back??

Ow man....Short of clearing out your tank, I would say to try the fish trap or the bottle method. Someone else caught a damsel on here yesterday with a poker stick and 2 nets....I would try the 1 liter bottle method. I tried it myself with a smaller bottle and my dottyback was close to being caught but the bottle was just too small, (and I was too impatient) I ended up taking all the rock and coral out of my tank (this was in my 12nano) to catch him. Mine was relocated to a friends (SWFishy's) reef!

thats odd, none of my fish bothered my pepps when I had them. The fire shrimp i have is who I think ate the pepps. I have 2x clowns, 2x PJs, 1x McCoskers, and 1x Purple Firefish. It is disheartening news as the next fish to go into the tank is an Orchid Dotty back. But I am waiting a week before it goes in.
