Think of it as a weed. It will not harm you clownfish but it is not good for your tank. I prefer peppermint shrimp to get rid of it since they are mobile and eat the ones that you do not see in your tank.

I don't belive pulling them will help, Injections with hot water will get them most of the time , I have heard, Never had the problem myself!
But i would let the tank finish it's cycling, get a couple pepermint shrip and give them time to deal with them.

You could but I wouldnt as they might die. If you pull them it will just grow back. Injection with hot water lemon juice or even joes juice should kill them. You can get a needle from your local MFA for 20 cents.

Why do you have a clown in a tank that is cycling?? Use the peppermint shrimp method after the cycle. I've heard that others used the injection method, which cause the aiptasia to break into smaller pieces . . . all of which formed a new aiptasia all across the tank! :scared:

I would use joes juice and a needle. As the hot water method has to be boiling water and you would squirt it and it would go all over the tank not just into the aiptasia. If you inject it it will nutrlize it from inside out. But if you do the shrimp they will most likely die during a cycle so it would be a waste of money.

One drop of lemon juice works, too. One drop only (ph factor) injected via syringe at the base. Why make "joe" any richer? Never had any luck with boiling water, by the time I got to the tank, in the water and into the aip, the water was not hot anymore.

I used Joes Juice, worked great.

Turn off your pump so it does not go all over your tank during treatment.

Aiptasia is a pain in the but, put in a couple of pepps when your tank is ready and that will take care of any new growth!
