This fellow is growing in the return chamber of my refugium. The wall it's attached to is black, so little to no light spills over to it. It's located in my basement, so the bi-weekly trips for maintenance shouldn't give it a sufficient photoperiod... but here it is, big as life.
I thought it was Aiptasia at first, but after noticing the yellow coiled band around the perimeter of the crown, I began to question whether it was... or wasn't. I've never seen Aiptasia with a colored band, in real life, or in pictures. I'm hoping someone can identify this creature, so I'll know whether or not to remove it. I don't want to kill an innocent because of mistaken identity. Here is a picture of it, and a link to a short video. In the video, the end of my index finger will give you an idea of it's size.
