Air Bubbles under my live sand?

why is there air bubbles under my live sand? should I stir the sand up or just leave it alone <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />
 
Im not exactly sure what youre situation is, but from what Ive read if you have a DSB, lets say 4-6 inches. If the DSB is functioning properly then it is converting nitrates into nitrogen gas. The nitrogen gas appears as bubbles inside your DSB. Thats the short explanation for it. You might do a search on the nitrogen cycle or deep sand beds and find a little more info.

do not stir your live sand. Nitrogen bubbles are a good sign your DSB is functioning as it should.
These bubbles will soon evaporate into atmosphere.
