Air bubbles

What is the story with air stones in salt water tanks. I've heard different
stories about air bubbles in salt water set ups. I have a air stone in the tank for nothing more than the look but if there is a chance it could cause a problem I will take it out. Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated.

Ive been told that the air bubbles can get under then gills in your fish and cause death. Also can cause pop eye. I would take the bubble stone out if you plan on housing fish in there. JMO.

I agree with TangLove. The bubbles can get in the gills of fish and kill them. I was also told it can get trapped in certain corals and do the same.

Air bubbles also kill sponges, Blue sponge, orange/red ball, and finger have no chance if you have micro bubbles. Just a thought

Thanks for the replys. I'm not going to take a chance. I will just lose the air stone. Any opinions on the pro clear 150 w/ protein skimmer? I returned the megaflow model 2 I had. It was 6-7 weeks old and the sides and top had warped to the point that the covers would not fit properly
