air in the tank

Can someone tell me if and why having tiny air bubbles dispersed throughout the tank is a problem. I think I remember reading somewhere in the treads that it could cause a problem but, I can't remember why or what... Thank you.

I had them for a while, as my skimmer is/was new. The amount of bubbles went down over a few weeks. I then put a piece of filter pad on my drip tray going into the sump as well as a piece in front of the bulk head where my return pump is, and alas NO more bubbles!

Can get into the fishes gills from what I read and believe it or not make them drown..
Kinda sounds strange saying that.. Something that lives in water drowning..

OMG!! You know my stars and stripes puffer puffed up today for no obvious reason.. I wonder if this was the reason? I've left the office for tonight, and now I'm afraid for them overnight! Help.

My S & S puffer would do the same thing.. For no reason.. He was always fine.. Yes hole in plumbing could cause air in tank

Ok, thank you. I know the problem in the sump, where the return pump is picking up air and pumping it back with the water. They are coming tomorrow to fix the problem, do you all think they will be allright overnight? or is this a long term exposure problem? Now I can't sleep...

You should be ok for a night. Is it b/c there is not enough water in the sump or a leak?
