You don't need an air pump to oxygenate the water... fresh or salt. The most efficient way of gas exchange is through agitating the surface of the water... the air pump is in effect doing this by creating currents in the water.
A powerhead pointing towards the surface or at the surface of the water or a HOB filter will provide this agitation for you.
Air pumps in SW tanks are not really a good idea... the bubbles can be bothersome to fish and corals but what's really bothersome is the gawd awful mess of all the salt spray/creep it produces....even if you are using a glass top on your tanks.
