Aitpsia question...

I notice a couple of anenome type things in my tank-one has been there for a couple of months and I noticed the other one a week or so ago. I have removed them but after doing some research, it appears that they are aiptasia-brown in color and with the classic form seen in a number of posts. When I pulled the rocks that these guys were on, I notice that the anenome retreated into a short tube type of structure about a half inch long when disturbed. Is this typical of the pest?
Thanks!

yes, and if you cant get it out as it retreats, put some superglue on top to seal the hole, then it will die, eventually...

This description “a short tube type of structure” does not make me think aiptasia. Aiptasia looks like a flower with stem and when they retreat they pull back into a crevice in the rock or ball up like a polyp. Small aiptasia are very hard to see when retracted.

That was my thought too-it reminded me of a feather duster the way it retracted and it was bigger than aiptasia. The "tube type structure" was fleshy and soft though, not hard or firm.

I know-I wasn't thinking straight when I got in my mind that it was aiptasia. Will snap a pic if I see another one.
Thanks for the advice!
