does feeding garlic soaked food kill off the algse in your fish tank? i noticed a while back that my algae was not growing on the tank walls like it usually did in the past. then it came back for a couple of months. now it is leaving again. the only thing i can think of that im doing different during this period of time is feeding garlic soaked brine shrimp. so maybe it is the garlic affecting the growth of algae. any ideas?

how old is the tank?? b/c the first seveeral months, the tank will go throuhg cycle with the algae too, maybe just part of it's growht cycle as well, especially wiht a new tank and a good clean up crew

fshhub maybe that is what is going on. the tank is 4 months old now. a funny thing was that i did a search on white bugs( i started seeing them on my glass) and from what im reading they are copodes and are good for the tank. but as the algae goes away will it get rid of the copodes? i never remember seeing these bugs in my tank when i had a tank set up years ago. funny you always keep learning. thats why i like this hobby. thanks for your thoughts.

it could be but i never heard of garlic doing that maybe i should try it! the copopds also live in the rocks and sand of a tank so if you do have these also the population will stay you just wont see them as much
