algae bloom

since i moved to denver i had a problem with algae blooms i know this is a saltwater board i also have a 38gal freshwater tank im using green x right now it seems to be not working the tank does not get a lot of light only when i turn it on i did a water change that didnt help it is an unsightly scene to look at i had this problem a couple of months ago if anyone knows how to get rid of algae blooms let me know please.

To beat Aggie yes it probably is.
There must be alot of Phosphates in your tap water. You really should only use R/O water buffered with your favorite additives. It may be slightly more pricey but will save you ALOT of trouble in the long run...

the thing is it only happens to my freshwater tanks and not my saltwater tanks because i use tap on my saltwater 2.

It could be you have a very efficient clean up crew in your salt... I dont know what you have in there. Its that or you have really good filtration running. Fresh water tanks don't clean up quite so efficiently as saltwater tanks thus maybe why you are getting the blooms.

yes i have good filtration on my saltwater but i dont have a clean up crew i have a 55gal fish only tank 29gal reef tank i have to replace all my inverts.
