Captn Bob! I am in the boat with you! Puzzling the same thing, plus nitrates. I just upgraded lighting and had a bloom of algae. The temp did raise a bit, but I think it's a complex little combo of things.
How old is the tank? How often do you change out water?

cleaning the glass is one of those duties of the hobbyist...it happens to everyone....i don't think the temp would cause an algae bloom....
Poniegirl yes the lights would cause an algae bloom.....

Yes temperature rises will create an algea bloom. In the summer here in florida they sell 10 times the turbo snails than in winter time. Coincident i think not!! Ive never seen a red tide alfgea bloom in the gulf in winter time either. Although i dont know the scientific reasoning behind it although I know that the warmer regions of the worlds is where most plant life is (jungles, rainforest, florida reefs, great barrier reefs) all are warm areas of the world
