Depends on how accurate the test is. Unless it gets into the .00'ths scale it could be ineffective in reading the levels or it's absorbing phosphates in the GHA as fast as it's being produced.
After a couple of years I've started to all of the sudden get the GHA move in and yes DO NOT scrub the rocks in your tank with a tooth brush
I'm working on starving mine out and completely covered my tank for 2 days with a blanket and no lights whatsoever.
I'm actually looking into getting a phosban reactor sometime in the turn of the year.
