Algae Hermit Crabs

Recently I've had an algae problem in my tank so yesterday I put 4 Algae Hermit Crabs and a Coral Banded Shrimp in to go to work and hopefully get rid of some of the algae. The question I have is I havent seen one of the crabs since I first put him in. I know when something dies you are suppose to get it out of the tank immediately before it poinsons the whole tank. If a small crab like this were to die and I didnt realize it, would it poison the tank or should I not worry about it with creatures like this. They are almost impossible to keep track of. Any help would be more than appreciated. I am new at this. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. First of all, they're tough animals and he may have just found a spot with some algae he likes. However, the hermits will also clean up the dead animals in the tank, so if he has died, his "friends" will take care of him. Just an FYI, make sure to get some shells for them to move into, my crabs started moving shells just days after introduction.
