Algae Issue

Hi all -
I have a 90 gallon salt water tank. Right now, I have about 25 lbs of live rock (I know I need more) and 1 yellow tang, 2 percula clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp, 4 turbo snails, and 1 scooter blemy.
The tank cycled for about 2 months before I put fish in and has been up living with live stock for about 3 months now. So far no deaths. Lately, I have noticed alot of algae starting to grow on the inside of the glass tank. it is pretty thick to the point where it makes the water look murky and starting to provide an odor when I get directly over the tank. Not too bad, but if you sniff hard, you can smell it.
Any advice for getting rid of the algae? The tank is not in an area that gets direct sunlight, but if I open my blinds, there is some sunlight. I bought a algae scraper, but it doesn't seem to be working too well.
Anything I can do? More turbo snails? The area that I cleaned looks great and my water looks pretty clean.
I travel 5 days a week for work so my GF stops in to feed the fish, anything I can do this weekend?
Thanks in advance.

Yes you need more snails but that is not the whole problem. YOu might be over feeding, lack of a good waterflow, leaving the lights on to long, your parameters. A combination of those. Tells what you do on a regular basis.

agree with rbrockm1, if your water para are good, more snails = always better, and make sure to set your light shorter than 12 hours(maybe 8 hours depend on what kind light you have) also, tapwater=algae boom!

I did use tap water when I first setup the tank. Perhaps that is why. I have started using RO water with my water changes. Once I filter all the tap water out, I may have better luck.
I also leave my light on alot, I will start turning that off.
Thanks for the help.
