algae, lots of it!!!

why do my tank seem to have a lot of algae lately? brown on the sand bottom, and red, and green on the coral? once a week i have to clean off the glass and stir up the bottom. Plus brown on the glass. thanks for you help

I had a huge break out of green algae on the sand and all over the glass. I was told that algae is a sign of a healthy tank. I ended up getting a bunch of snails to get the glass and a magnet clenaer for the glass as well, and some little hermit crabs for the rocks. So far it looks good. I have to clean the glass about every three days, yes it sucks, but I love this hobby!
