Algae on my glass

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding algae on the walls of my tank. I have no algae problems on the rocks or sand...yet for some reason there is always algae growing all over my walls and overflow. I do use tap water (no phosphates detected)...i know that is usually due to the algae using the phosphates...but if there is no algae growing anywhere else then what is the problem? Thanks.

You don't want hair algae, but you do want the good algae that fish and inverts enjoys eating. All healthy fish tanks have algae.
