:notsure: i have a fairly bright red algae that that has grown on top of my sand bed, is this good or bad, or will it eventually just go away like some rust colored algae i had all over my rocks before. my tank is still pretty new so im wondering if this algae is part of the cycling process?:notsure: :help:

It's part of the cycleing process.....Do you have a good clean up crew? Also, do partial water changes until it clears.
Are all your readings good?:D

How big is your tank? I'd definitely get more snails and red hermits.
How long has your tank been up?:D

Definitely stock up on snails...get some sand sifting ones as well as glass cleaners.
Your tank is relatively new and these outbreaks will happen, but if you do your part everything should be fine.:D

Is the answer to your problems: http://www.aquariumstuffers.com/prod...?CategoryID=22
I have a 150g fowlr and have lots of windows in my house. I've got a good clean-up crew, but they weren't addressing the substrate. I got this guy, and he keeps my substrate looking AWESOME. Only two drawbacks: 1) until he covers the whole tank, he'll kick up clouds, but as he gets around, the aragonite gets cleaned up and clouds are not a problem (i have no issues with this after about a month), 2) He makes tunnels under LR, looks like a friggin engineering project. LR gets dug in, but it didn't cause any problems - just fyi. Had to share cause he's such a valuable part of my system. Enjoy.
