Algae supplement for Yellow Tang

I have a Yellow Tang and lately I have noticed that its color is kind of pale yellow. It is not stressed in anyway nor is it underfed. My LFS told me that it could be from lack of Algae nutrient. I have halimeda in my tank but the tang doesnt seem to care to much for it. What are some of the algaes that are favored by the yellow tangs?

If it's in your 45 that could be a big part of your problem. Other than that, you should try feeding it seaweed sheets like seaweed selects or if you have an Oriental Grocery near you you can get some Nori wrap, which is used for making sushi. Its the same stuff...

yellow tangs arent that picky, seaweedselects are good, nori is good, they will eat almost any caulerpa, they'll eat hair algaes, sheet algaes, they wont usually eat chaeto or halimeda too tough and tastes bad. you can also feed emerald entree.

They graze on rocks all day long. Mine will eat nori sheets or seaweed selects. They will also eat chaeto like its going out of style. Barry

I'm not sure what they prefer but mine eats pretty much anything that is green, romaine lettuce, baby spinach, nori sheets, algae pellets, chaeto, and pretty much any algae that grows on my rocks or powerhead discharges.
Of course he eats pretty much anything non-algae related as well, flask food, mysis shrimp, even cyclopeeze.
