I am trying to get pink algae started in 120 gallon tank. I dont have test kit for calcium I know I need one but cant get one till pay day..........I bought some red sea calcium. That tells me to add one teaspoon per 60 gallon per week that dont look like enough. I bought one small rock that has a good start on it. The one tsp per 60 gallon might be enough after you get the level up can anyone tell me how much to add at first.........Thanks sweetpea

Hmm... new tank, right? No test kit. Well, I'd say to add half dose if any at all. Better to wait until you know where your at. Most salts are low on calcium so you should be OK at half dose. Don't forget that most LFS can test water for you. Some charge, some don't. Also, check the alk and PH too.

No tank is two years old I have a test kit for every thing but calcium, I never thought about pink algae but I look at some tanks and liked it..............Thanks sweetpea
