Algae?

I've been cycling my tank for about 2 weeks now and I'm starting to get some green algae growth on everything including the dead rock and sand. I've used RO/DI water for filling the tank and top offs. Have had a problem with heat though. Not sure if it's too early to get a cleanup crew, but I don't want to let things get out of hand.
Transformer for fans went out today so no cooling. After the MH's were on all day, the temp got up to about 86! Good thing there is no fish in there yet.
Is the algae a bad thing that I need to address now, or later when I add animals.
Thanks.

New tanks are a rollercoaster ride. You will just have to wait it out. When the ammonia and nitrites are at 0, get some snails.
Also, you do not need the lights during the cycle unless you have corals on the rock, so IMO I would turn them off for a few days.

OK, will do. Especially since my fans are not working right now. I am determined to learn this and get it right! :happyfish

US Shark, I am going through hair algae nightmare right now myself. I use RO/DI water and my tank is in it's 6th week. I think I caused the problem myself from over feeding, trying to get my smaller clown to eat. I have 35+ snails including cerith, nass, astrea, turbo, and red turbo's, and 4 emerald crabs and 25+ hermits.. I turned my MH down to 6hrs. I run a 15g refug as well, no algae in there though. I added the cleanup crew about 4-5 days after my cycle. I didn't run my lights till after cycle either. I am doing water changes of 20-25g per week and cut back feeding to one light feeding every other day. And the battle wages on, hope it clears some time soon.
