I know for sure I have diatom that hangs out by my filter and clings to the glass. The hair like algae is brown in color and vacs easily off my live rock if I create a swift current or a brush against the rocks. Is this normal growth and good for the tank. It is just growing so rapidly on my live rock. I have some great pieces of live rock that are very colorful but the algae seems to be taking over. I have two tomatoes, a blue damsel and a fire shrimp in there now. Are turbos compatible?
Yes they are but they wont rid your tank of the algea. You have cyano not hair algea, you need to address why. How often do you feed, how much do you feed, what type of lighting do you have and whats the schedule? How many powerheads do you have circulating in your tank?
Syphon off as much as you can, do a water change, and cut your light schedule down to only a few hours a day for a week. Maybe even keep them off for a couple of days to help. But finding the source is key...
