I am having a hard time keeping algae down. I started getting it when I did hypo salinity on my tank. I didn't have it before but I do now? Wondering what it is and if it has to do with something high or low in my tank and or is it because it has finally balanced itself after cycling? It's about 5 months old. I am getting a reddish purple algae along with a dark green algae and it is almost like a sheet across anything the light hits, even my sand! Any ideas.

that is cyno bacteria not an algae. Check your nitrates and phosphates. They make a products to remove cyno like "slime away" they work but first find the cause then treat. you can remove as much as you can when you do a water change, it comes off of the surface very easily.

Yea it does come off easily but it's a pain in the butt though cuz it seems to come back quickly! Thank you for the info!
