My tank is 1 week and 1 day old. Is it a good, bad, or normal to have a brownish red alge to start growing so soon? Please help

It's a sign that your tank is progressing.... It's diatoms, and it should dissapear as the tank matures. At a little over 1 week your tank is probably still cycleing.

Yep perfectly normal, after your tank is fully cycled I'd change 3 gallons on your 10 gal tank and you will be good to go. As long as your not using tap water.

No tap water that is one thing I have heard a lot of horror stories about. Thanks to all who helped me on this question.
